Dunbar car wash fire

Officials say candles inside an abandoned car wash are the suspected cause of a fire that gutted the building Tuesday evening in Dunbar, Kanawha County, West Virginia.

The fire was reported right before 6 p.m. in the 1200 block of Charles Avenue.

Firefighters of the region say the building was engulfed when they arrived at the scene. Flames had spread onto the roof and across the whole building.

No one was injured. Investigators were made aware of the reports of homeless people staying inside the car wash.

Officials of Dunbar Fire Department, the Dunbar Police Department, South Charleston Fire Department, and KCEAA were at the scene.

The fire kept rekindling, and thus the officials expected to be there for a few more hours to keep the rubble sprayed down and extinguish hot spots.
