Alfa Romeo to provide E-Class and 5-Series Rival

by SpeedLux

Alfa Romeo is expected to launch a brand new halo sedan as per some of the reports. The car would be expected to give competition to the established Mercedes-Benz E-Class and BMW 5-Series.

The car is expected to be launched in 2015 and may be built from Maserati underpinnings which may be the upcoming entry-level Maserati Ghibli sedan.

Last year, Sergio Marchionne, Fiat CEO revealed in an interview that no successor to the Alfa Romeo 166 was expected to be launched and infact the focus of the firm would be on its smaller Mito, and Giuletta ranges.

But recently Maserati confirmed that it has plans to increase production significantly over the coming years, with a goal of selling upto 50,000 vehicles annually by 2015 and as a result the successor to the Alfa Romeo 166 could also be launched.

Not many details are available about the Alfa Romeo car as of now but as per the reports, the car may share the same platform and engine as the Maserati Ghibli.
