BMW i8 production version caught on camera

Several pictures of the production version of the BMW i8 plug-in hybrid supercar has been clicked and it is there out in the open for everyone to see.

BMW has confirmed plans that it will reveal the i8 in full ready kit sometime this year, along with the smaller and more affordable i3 model. The i8 will receive a double seating layout and will need about 4.8 seconds to cover the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) distance.

Though the concept is pampered with a diesel engine, the production version will most likely receive a three-cylinder turbo gasoline engine which will joins hands together with the hybrid setup. Moreover the electric motor of the concept generates around 170 hp (125 kW).

Pricing details are out in the open and the BMW i8 is expected to cost somewhere around 150,000 EUR (about 200,775 USD or 127,833 GBP).

It is not confirmed when the car will makes its debut but it is sure that it will happen before the end of this year.
