BMW Preparing With Hardcore M4 Variant For 100th Anniversary

by SpeedLux

Even though the redesigned M3 sedan and new M4 coupe from the stable of BMW have not arrived, but the company has started planning for the hotter versions.

A report published in the Motoring magazine in Australia says BMW is getting ready with a stripped-down and track-ready version of its M4. The preparation is being done for the 100th anniversary of the company which is in year 2016.

The BMW engineers are trying to ditch some extra weight from the vehicle and as per the report it will be lighter by around 220 pounds. It will have a carbon fiber roof and also to equip it with trunk lid. However, the vehicle will also have front fenders as well as a hood, but made from lightweight material of course.

In the interior part the Motoring magazine writes BMW will be deleting the rear seats and the front ones will be replaced with carbon fiber shells. Also, instead of leather the company will be using Alcantara trim in the rest of the interior.

The new version will be equipped with six-speed manual transmission. Officials of the company say it won’t be a direct successor to the lightweight M3 CSL coupe.
