BMW M has recently revealed on a social website the M4 Coupe safety car for the 2014 MotoGP season.
For last year’s MotoGP championship BMW had used an M6 Gran Coupe but now they have decided to go on with the all-new M4 Coupe to increase awareness of the first-ever M4. For obvious reasons, the safety car wears a traditional M livery and the typical lettering as well as a light bar. With the M4 safety car BMW is also displaying some of its performance parts such as the front skirt attachments, rear spoiler and diffuser which all have been made form carbon fiber.
Under the hood power is derived from an inline-six 3.0-liter TwinPower Turbo engine generating an output of 431 HP (317 kW) and 550 Nm (406 lb-ft) of torque. This enables the car to achieve the acceleration from 0-62 mph (0-100 kmph) in just 4.3 seconds with the six-speed manual and in 4.1 seconds when equipped with the optional seven-speed M DCT. The model comes with an electronically-limited top speed of 155 mph (250 kmph) but BMW is offering an optional M Driver’s Package which raises the limiter to 174 mph (280 kmph).
