There were news about Cadillac building a coupe version of the ATS right from the beginning but they were not officially confirmed, and now it seems that the unofficial piece has turned into an official one.
Cadillac brand chief, Robert Fergurson, announced during this year’s Detroit Motor Show that the ATS Coupe is on its way. The company will follow the same procedure used for the CTS in terms of the coupe, but in the case of the ATS we won’t receive a wagon or a convertible version.
The Coupe is expected to have the same engine range as the sedan. It should offer a 200 hp 2.5-liter four-cylinder, a turbocharged four-cylinder unit delivering 270 hp, as well as a 318 hp 3.6-liter V6. A hot version of the car is also a possibility, but there has been no word on the upcoming ATS-V, so we’ll have to wait and see whether it becomes a reality.
Mr Ferguson also confirmed that the ATS will gain a diesel engine for the European market.
Well all is clear now that the coupe is due to be out anytime soon we can only now wait for the development to take place.
