Chongqing Changan Automobile said on Saturday that sales of the Changan Ford joint venture will increase this year.

Chairman Zhu Huarong had made the comments at the Beijing International Automotive Exhibition 2020.

Chinese automaker GAC and German automaker BMW also expect sales to grow this year in China, the world’s biggest auto market, as consumption has shown recovery from COVID-19 lockdowns, officials said on Saturday.

Guangzhou-based GAC, which has partnerships with Japanese automakers Toyota Motor and Honda Motor, expects its full-year sales and production to be positive, said general manager Feng Xingya.

Jochen Goller, head of BMW China, said the automaker expects “single digit growth” in China for 2020.

The executives were speaking at the Beijing International Automotive Exhibition 2020. GAC earlier said it aimed to boost sales by 3% in 2020.
