Chevrolet Teases the 2016 Malibu

by SpeedLux

Do you happen to be waiting for the next generation, the 2016 model year, Chevrolet Malibu to finally arrive? If so, there is good news for you. The American automaker, Chevrolet, has actually decided to release an official teaser video clip of the aforementioned vehicle model. This video is released ahead of the car’s scheduled full unveiling at the upcoming New York Auto Show event this year, which is supposed to kick off about one month from now.

Well, to be honest, this teaser is not the only teaser that the American company has released for its upcoming Malibu model. Before this, the company had also released a teaser video in which it unveiled that the vehicle would lose around 136 kg of its weight, thanks to the use highly strong yet lightweight steel material. This time, the American marquee is giving out a teaser that shows just how long the next generation Malibu model can endure the tests the company throws at it. In this second teaser video clip, it can be seen that the car actually manages to endure 1.5 million miles of test driving. The tests were conducted both on the open roads and in controlled environments.

In addition to that, the test mule of the aforementioned vehicle model was also required to withstand some rather unfriendly weather conditions at Yuma, Arizona. At the time the weather testing took place, the temperature was at the level of 107 degrees Fahrenheit. Then, when the vehicle eventually reached the Northern Canada, the temperature dropped to -13 degrees Fahrenheit. Well, in case those weren’t enough, the 2016 Chevy Malibu test mule also had to go through the Climatic Wind Tunnel available at the General Motors Technical Center in Warren, Michigan, US. Here, the temperature could be artificially dropped to -40 degrees Fahrenheit or increased to as high as 140 degrees Fahrenheit.

According to reports, the 2016 Chevrolet Malibu will follow a design language similar to that of the Chevrolet Corvette. The car is slated for debut on April 1, 2015, when the 2015 New York Auto Show begins. As for sales, they are expected to start as early as the end of 2015.
