Corvette C7 due for drastic redesigning, C8 gets mid-mounted V6

by Sebastian Bivin

A few weeks back, you may have heard of the plan of General Motors for the new Corvette that is due by 2012. Now we bring you some buzz about the C8 that is set to roll out after 2016.

The C7 will receive some makeover and will be basically a reskinned C6 with focus on making the exterior more appealing to younger consumers in the United States and other countries but with more focus on improving the quality of the interiors.
According to GM insiders, the C7 will be the last to use the old-style and traditional design lines of the Corvette.

The C8 will be ground-breaking. It would have been the C7 if the car manufacturer was not pushed over the edge financially last year. The C8 is dropping the front mounted V8 configuration and will be going for a mid-mounted turbocharged V-6.
The C8 is also expected to use an alloy body which will benefit the car on the weight department. It is also expected to have some compact footprints.
