Driver of stolen car flees police and crashes in Michigan

Police say the driver of a stolen car crashed when he was fleeing police with the car in Mecosta County, Michigan.

The incident took place around 12:40 p.m. Sunday, November 22, in Mecosta County’s Austin Township.

A sheriff’s deputy tried to halt the vehicle for a traffic violation on 120th Avenue near 11 Mile Road. The driver fled police onto a seasonal road where he lost control of his car and it crashed.

The driver, a 33-year-old man, was hospitalized in Grand Rapids hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Police figured out that the suspect, who is dealing with several charges, was driving a stolen car.
