Honda Unveils the Shuttle for JDM

by SpeedLux

About a month earlier, there were some images leaked that seemed to depict an upcoming vehicle model from Honda. Now, the Japanese automaker has made up its mind to actually unveil the vehicle. It turns out the vehicle is the company’s Shuttle model for the Japanese Domestic Market, or the JDM for short.

Designed as a 2015 model year vehicle, the car is basically the next generation Honda Jazz, also known as Fit in some countries in the world. The car comes with a considerably long overhang at its rear end, resulting in a very spacious trunk. For your reference, for the Honda Jazz – or Fit, without folding the rear seats, the trunk can carry up to 354 liters of cargoes. Yet, when the rear seats are folded down, this capacity increases significantly to reach the figure of 884 liters. Now, in spite of the absence of exact figure for the cargo capacity of the Honda Shuttle on the Japanese marquee’s official website, it is believed that the car should be able to accommodate more than 500 liters of cargoes even when its rear seats are all up.

As reported by the Honda Japan, the 2015 Honda Shuttle will be coming with an all-wheel-drive (AWD) drivetrain, along with a hybrid engine configuration. Buyers of the vehicle will find a 1.5L Atkinson-cycle engine under the hood, paired with a lithium-ion battery pack, a single electric motor unit and also a dual clutch transmission (DCT) system. Another variant will reportedly be available as well, featuring a conventional 1.5L engine and a front-wheel-drive (FWD) drivetrain.

A host of luxury amenities will also be available, especially for those willing to spend extra sum of money for the range topping variant. Here, they will get fog lamps, roof rails, front seats with heaters, steering wheel wrapped in fine leather material, navigation system, cruise control, smart key system by Honda, LED lighting clusters, 16-inch alloy wheels and also wooden trim on the dashboard and door panels of the vehicle.
