Hyundai retires Genesis coupe, looks forward to more advanced successor

The company warned that the sporty two-door Genesis would not be rebadged to line up with its now-distinct Genesis high-end brand name. The separate department will eventually provide a coupe amongst six designs show up in the next 5 years, but it will not be the Genesis Coupe in its existing form.

“A new, more sophisticated and glamorous coupe appropriate for the brand-new Genesis brand name is presently under development,” Hyundai Motor America PR manager Christine Henley stated.

The Genesis brand releases with the G80– the rebadged Hyundai Genesis sedan– ahead of the G90 full-size high-end sedan. The compact four-door G70 is next on the list, followed by 2 crossover designs.

Rumors flowing early this year recommended Genesis and Hyundai’s performance-focused ‘N’ department are developing a new coupe that intends to compete the BMW M4 and Mercedes-AMG C63 Coupe. It is anticipated to be a two-door version of the G70 sedan, most likely powered by a twin-turbo 3.3-liter V6.

The business has not detailed a time-frame for getting its new Genesis coupe to market.
