Hyundai Veloster Midship Concept is a hot mid-engined compact hatch

by Max Richardson

Hyundai build amazing cars and has become a very important global automaker.

At the 2014 Busan International Motor Show in South Korea, the domestic automaker is showing a hot Veloster Midship concept developed by Hyundai Motor Company’s High Performance Team – who also developed the i20 WRC in its initial form.

The two-seater Midship concept is fully driveable with power coming from a mid-engined turbocharged 2.0-litre Theta GDI engine generating 300 horsepower. Yes a two-seater mid-engined Hyundai!

Other highlights include lightweight aluminium suspension and a high-rigidity chassis.

The engine is located right behind the occupants, offering ideal weight distribution and handling balance through corners.

We love it, but don’t get too excited as there are no production plans for this hot hatch. The concept is nothing more than a study, exploring possibilities for the Veloster chassis.
