Israel government seeks Audi limousine worth $1 million for Prime Ministerial duty

by Alex

Safety is the premium factor for the prime minister of a country that’s been experiencing unrest for almost time immemorial. Therefore a car that will allow the prime minister to go around doing his job while being cocooned in a web of safety is one of the prime requirements. Luxury is just one more add on feature to that necessity named safety that would make the car a complete unit.

After having tasted the reality of an assassination on their prime minister the late Yitzhak Rabin, the country has taken a very secure view while selecting the car for their present Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. It is Shin Beck which is the security agency involved with the interior affairs of the country that went on to select the Audi A8L Security which is an armored German limousine.

The car is a long wheelbase variant of the A8 model, has a standard 6 liter engine that delivers 450 hp and is fitted with a Quattro all-wheel drive system. The safety aspect of the car has been further intensified with some added features which includes a B6+ and B7 ballistic protection, a fire-suppression system, run-flat tires, along with explosive charges on the doors that are just some of the safety features incorporated in the car. For entertainment there is the DVD entertainment system installed in the car and the humidor for lighting up a stogie.

Cost of the limousine is in the range of $1 million which when it comes to the country of Israel and for something as essential as the security and safety of its prime minister, is not asking for much.
