Jeep unveils diesel lineup of Grand Cherokee at Detroit Auto Show

Jeep released today the diesel version of Grand Cherokee at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show and joins few other most luxury marques in the U.S. market such as large-SUV lineup of Audi, Mercedes-Benz and BMW.

The car boasts fuel efficiency as it has eight-speed automatic transmission along with other minor upgrades of exterior as well as interior. It is also equipped with new Eco feature to offer additional efficiency.

This is the first time Jeep is launching a diesel variant of its car in the U.S. market after the 2008 Grand Cherokee.

According to Jeep CEO and president Mike Manley, the car is fuel-efficient and also is equipped with all such features that customers always has asked for. He added that the new Grand Cherokee will be able to conquer more challenging terrains than what the predecessor had done.

The towing capacity of the vehicle is 7400 pounds and it is powered by new 3.0-liter V-6 diesel engine producing 240 horsepower as well as 420 pound-feet of torque.

It is to be taken note that the diesel version of Grand Cherokee will only be available on the top three trim levels of it. The rest will be gas-powered.
