Mercedes AMG F1 W05 revealed – ‘Far too early’ to predict title win – Wolff

by SpeedLux

Mercedes has been already tipped as a 2014 championship favourite and so the pressure on them to deliver is high as they prepare to reveal their new silver and black W05.

The Brackley based team has been releasing teasers of Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton’s new car on social website Twitter, and the latest image that has been uploaded depicts a low, perhaps Ferrari-style front nose, with fascinating twin winglets.

Given it is a works maker of chassis and engine, a status effectively shared in F1 only by fabled Ferrari, Mercedes is being tipped as a true favourite to dethrone Red Bull in this year’s F1 season.

The W05 which is currently at Jerez for its imminent launch, has already run a distance of 40 km at Silverstone for a ‘filming’ shakedown, and German Rosberg sounded positive on the social website. However Mercedes’ motor sport boss Toto Wolff, is quite cautious about winning the title.

He was quoted by the German news agency DPA that, “It’s far too early at this stage to talk about the championship.” Wolff did confirm that the team has been working particularly hard over the winter, with a night shift necessary every night.
