Prosecutors submitted a felony child abuse charge on Wednesday against a Colorado woman alleged of leaving her 2-year-old son alone in a vehicle overnight throughout a snowstorm when the temperature level reached minus 8 degrees.

The kid was hospitalized with frostbitten feet and hypothermia after he was discovered Saturday inside the car in the Denver suburban area of Thornton.

Prosecutors state authorities rescued the kid following his mother, 26-year-old Nicole Alexandria Carmon, report on Saturday morning that she had left him in a car the last night but couldn’t recall where.

Carmon is represented by a public defender who couldn’t be reached for comment.

Cops started an urgent investigation for the kid after a lady who often babysat for Carmon reported that Carmon didn’t understand where the boy was, as per cops arrest affidavit. The baby-sitter stated Carmon had come to her house Saturday searching for the kid, the affidavit stated.

Depending on information from Carmon and monitoring video from a gas station, cops discovered her automobile in a parking lot outside a restaurant, covered by approximately six inches of snow, the affidavit informed. They discovered the young child partly buckled into a car seat.

Carmon told cops she had intoxicated six shots of vodka Friday night and recalled parking her automobile near a restaurant, walking to a gas station then obtaining a ride home, the affidavit told.

Carmon is being held in lieu of $50,000 bond. Her next court appearance is January 13. She would face 10 to 32 years in prison if founded guilty.
