New BMW Hybrid Concept

by Alex

Rumors have been abuzz on the net about the near silent 6-Series car model from BMW. The rumor was spurred by BMW itself when they passed on some small video clip of this prototype car. Though the remarks that were attached with the video mentioned about not to blog that idea but rumors started to be churned and BMW further added spice to this recipe with more video and images.

The video which has been released off late displays the front end of the prototype model to resemble the Vision EfficientDynamics Concept which was seen last year. That it would be a hybrid in all probability is evident from the silent mode in which it is depicted to be running and yet have a small tail pipe visible. This also has its similarity with the Vision EfficientDynamics Concept which has two electric motor as well as a three-cylinder internal combustion engine all in a plug-in hybrid configuration. The green connotations of the vehicle are also evident from the low roll resistance tires that are fitted.

BMW hints at the new prototype being for a model to be named BMW i100 Coupe ActiveHybrid. The expected dates of sales to begin are somewhere around 2013 though this is mere speculation.

BMW is expected to release some more teasers and therefore some more details about the prototype.
