Nikola Motors Claims $2.3 Billion in Preorders

by SpeedLux

Nikola Motors unveiled itself with the declaration of two new plug-in cars: a semi-truck with a natural gas-electric hybrid system which is named the Nikola One and the off-road Nikola Zero UTV. The $2.3 billion refers to pre-orders regarding the One semi. But as it was reported a month back, a pre-order for the One is simply $1,500 and is completely refundable.

Today’s news release states that Nikola Motor Company has gotten 7,000 pre-orders, which would be around $10.5 million, not $2.3 billion. We asked, and Nikola stated that it’s utilizing the final cost of the trucks, not only the pre-order dollars, to reach the $2.3 billion. Nikola Motors initially said that the One semi will cost $375,000 but today clarified that every truck has a “value of $300,000 to $400,000”.

Nikola states that it will reveal a working prototype of the semi on December 2nd in Utah, United States.
