Parking Lot in China Contains Extra Space for Women

by SpeedLux

A highway service location in Hangzhou, China, has been offering extra-large parking areas for ladies, as per the Los Angeles Times, mentioning a story from a state-run newspaper in China. The spaces, which are 1.5 times larger than normal areas, are tough to miss thanks to their intense pink borders and pink female icons. 8 of the 370 parking areas on the location are marked for ladies.

“The larger parking areas are for women motorists whose driving abilities are not outstanding,” Pan Tietong, the service location’s manager, informed the Qianjiang Evening News. Wow.

In a study on Weibo, China’s variation of Twitter, 63.7 percent of participants concurred with providing special parking areas for females. However numerous other users on the site are complaining, stating the areas are sexist due to the fact that they promote the stereotype that guys are much better motorists than ladies.

This isn’t really the only time we’ve heard of female-only parking areas. In 2014, a shopping mall in China brought out parking areas that read “respectfully booked for women”. As the shopping center has kids education centers inside, the extra-large spaces assist female drivers drop off their kids rapidly by the front of the mall if they’re late for class, the supervisor said.
