Renault’s board had prompted Nissan’s board before its meeting on Thursday to delay eliminating Carlos Ghosn from his position as chairman, sources knowledgeable with the matter informed Reuters.

Nissan’s board voted unanimously on Thursday to eliminate Carlos Ghosn from his post after his arrest in Japan this week, public broadcaster NHK reported, marking the stunning downfall of the executive once praised as the savior of the Japanese automaker.
