Renault has recently introduced their new Clio Renaultsport R3T.
Designed for participating in the rallies, the Clio Renaultsport R3T comes fitted with an adapted version of the turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine that also forms part of the Clio Renaultsport 200 EDC. Renault did not reveal any specification but did say that the engine has been specifically tuned for racing duties. The company also stated that the engine will be connected to a Sadev six-speed sequential transmission which can be operated via optional steering wheel mounted paddle shifters.
Not much detail is available as of now about the car but the company has confirmed that it comes with features such as Cosworth electronics, PFC brakes and Sachs shock absorbers.
Renault Sport Technologies Motorsports Director Arnaud Boulanger stated that with the Clio Renaultsport R3T, the aim of the company has been to come up with a high-performance, reliable vehicle adaptable to every type of surface, all for an operating cost below that of the product it replaces. He further stated that initial tests of the vehicle have been promising and a lengthy development campaign has been scheduled in the lead-up to the kits approval.
If everything goes as planned, the car is expected to receive the approval in the second half of next year.
