Report: Volkswagen eyeing five-year life cycles

Volkswagen Group of America chief executive Michael Horn has disclosed his want to hurry up the introduction of recent and facelifted models.

Speaking to Bloomberg, Horn aforesaid redesigned models would be launched everything 5 years and that they would be a facelift when 3 years. this is often considerably quicker than this system that sees new models introduced when seven years and facelifts when four years.

According to Horn, “We’re operating to shorten the life cycle of the product to bring a lot of new options and style parts, in terms of facelifts, to the market faster.” He went on to mention the arrange is sensible and will facilitate to boost sales.

While Horn is upbeat, the shorter lifecycles haven’t been approved by the company’s board as of nevertheless. though executives sign off on the arrange, nothing would move into impact till 2017 at the earliest.
