Rumours of secret Ferrari V6 test grow – report

by SpeedLux

Rumours about Ferrari testing its all-new turbo V6 engine have been increasing by every passing day and night. There was a video recently which showed that a LaFerrari super car had lapped the Maranello marque’s private Fiorano circuit amid the distinct tones of a turbo engine.

Now the Germany’s Auto Motor und Sport has more details regarding the same. It has published detailed photos that depict the super car, with a camouflaged livery, also featuring a suspiciously large air intake on the roof. The car also has a giant wing at the back.

The report states that it is obvious the car was not powered by its usual V12 engine, but a “small-volume turbo engine”. On the livery there is a triangular, yellow warning sticker, indicating that complex electric technology lurked beneath, perhaps the sort of sophisticated energy-recovery systems that is expected to power the team’s 2014 F1 car.

The reporter further stated that “Ferrari will not publicly comment on the test,” and also said that it is also possible that Ferrari was testing in preparation for a potential Le Mans project.
