Russian deal helps embattled Sauber eye ‘long-term’ future

by SpeedLux

Finally some good news comes for Sauber when they recently made an announcement of a tie-up with Russian party.

There have been various reports of the Swiss team being on the brink of collapse but recently the company founder Peter Sauber confirmed that he and team boss Monisha Kaltenborn recently travelled twice to Moscow to look out for a possible tie-up for the company. Finally the company made an announcement of the deals with the Investment Cooperation International Fund, The State Fund of Development of North-West Russian Federation and the National Institute of Aviation Technologies.

The founder said that the deal will involve the promotion of the sport in Russia, the inaugural Russian grand prix in the coming year, and the development of technology that will open up quite a few new revenue streams. The statement also stated that the Russian driver Sergey Sirotkin, who is just 17 currently, will be prepared as a racing driver for the team in 2014.

We had recently reported that the company was in deep financial trouble with some of the suppliers including Ferrari were planning to file a suit against it for recovery of the dues which was long outstanding. However company was in the process of doing some tie-ups for helping it out and they have managed to get one.
