by SpeedLux

Seat has recently announced its plans to organize a one-make Leon Eurocup race series next year.

The Seat Leon Eurocup will be a customer racing series and will be organized over the course of six weekends next year using the recently introduced Leon Cup Racer. Starting in May, the race will take place in six European locations, with the calendar set to be finalized in the coming weeks. The race weekend will take place from Friday to Sunday during which there will be two free training sessions, qualification and two races.

The participants of the competition will race with the Seat Leon Cup Racer, a lightweight race-spec version of the road-going car with features that include a roll cage, digital instrument cluster, 18-inch alloy wheels and lighter seats. Under the hood motivation will be provided by a 4-cylinder, 2.0-liter turbo engine rated at 330 HP (243 k) and 258 lb-ft (350 Nm) of torque sent to the front axle via a 6-speed DSG or a sequential racing transmission.

The Seat Leon Cup Racer is already available on order and comes with a starting price of 70,000 EUR. The deliveries will commence around April 2014.
