At this year’s SEMA, Chevrolet is showing a special version of the Corvette Grand Sport with a collection of accessories, which will be available in early 2010. The car on display is a standard Grand Sport convertible equipped with the Heritage package and finished in a new Cyber Grey exterior color.
Today at the SEMA show in Las Vegas, Chevrolet unveiled five new Camaro concepts. First one is specially built for the talk-show host/car fanatic Jay Leno and features a twin-turbocharged 3.6-liter V6 that produces 425 horsepower. It also comes with Brembo six-piston brakes and a coil-over lowering kit.
Next week Hennessey will show their LS9 powered HPE700 Camaro at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas. HPE700 is powered by a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 that produces up to 725 horsepower and 741 lb-ft of torque. 0-60 mph comes in just 3.5 seconds and it is priced from $119,500.
Hennessey Performance Engineering and Tuner School(founded by John Hennessey) in partnership with Hyundai Motor America have created a matte black, carbon fiber wrapped Hennessey Genesis Coupe for the SEMA Show. This custom Genesis Coupe packs 500 hp and 465 lb-ft of torque.
Next week at the SEMA Show, Ford Powertrain and Detroit Street Rods are showing EcoBoost-powered 1934 Ford hot rod. The Ford hot rod will be the “first” rear-wheel-drive application of the new 3.5-liter twin-turbo EcoBoost V6 delivering 400 hp and 400 ft.-lb. of torque.
Next week at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas, Specter Werkes will show a new GTR based on the Corvette Z06. New GTR is a collaboration between Specter Werkes and Lingenfelter Performance engineering. Under the hood is a Lingenfelter twin-turbo system pumping the 7.0-liter LS7 V8 engine output to 800 horsepower.
Next month’s SEMA show is all about custom cars. Here we have first details about the custom Lexus IS 350C by Fox Marketing. This custom lime-green hardtop convertible comes with a wide bodykit and 20-inch black rims wrapped with Toyo T1R tires.
We have already talked about the 350 hp Genesis Coupe by GReddy Performance Parts, which will be shown at this year’s SEMA show. Hyundai has announced, that another, more powerful Genesis Coupe will be converted for the show by Rhys Millen Racing.
Next month at the 2009 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, Lingenfelter Performance Engineering will show a 750 horsepower supercharged LS7 Camaro SS co-engineered with suspension expert Hotchkis Performance. LS7 engine when naturally aspirated produces 505 horsepower in the Chevrolet Z06.
No one knows for sure when will GM introduce a convertible version of the new Camaro. Their problems started beginning of the year when the German company responsible for supplying the convertible top ran out of business. It is likely more than a year before the 2011 Camaro Convertible goes on sale.
Next month at this year’s SEMA, Hyundai and GReddy Performance Parts will display a show car dubbed “GReddy X-Gen Street Genesis Coupe”. Based on the 2010 Genesis Coupe, it features an upgraded version of the 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four packing 350 hp and 320 lb-ft of torque.
