Teen killed in two-car crash in White County, Arkansas

A 19-year-old Beebe man died on Thursday when an SUV crashed with his car in White County, Arkansas.

Arkansas State Police reported the crash occurred at 8:29 p.m. January 7 on State Highway 5 near Valley View Road in Rose Bud.

Jake Smith was southbound when a 2019 GMC Acadia driven by Neena Reed, 65, of Heber Springs crossed the center line and crashed with the driver’s side of Smith’s 2017 Chevy Malibu.

Smith died due to the injuries from the crash.

Reed and three passengers in his car were Eli Sutherland, 19; Gavin Hatch, 18; and McKay Jurges, 18. Each of them suffered injuries and were admitted to Unity Health Hospital.

According to the initial fatal crash summary, the road was wet, and the weather conditions were cloudy at the time of the crash.
