The All New 2011 Bentley Mulsanne Will Enter Full Scale Production This Summer

by Alex

Come this summer and Bentley’s production lines will be abuzz with the company’s 98 member strong manufacturing specialists swooping down to give final shape to the all new 2011 Mulsanne. Skills that have been passed down through generations of Crewe car makers will be put to the best use when engineers put together the painted body, the hand crafted leather hides and wood veneers that have been specially made for the iconic car along with all its electrical components as well as the 6.25 liter V8 engine.

The Mulsanne has a whole host of electrical components and to ensure all the wiring harness is installed in the most foolproof manner, new advanced techniques will be made use of which includes methods to handle the highly delicate fiber optic cables along with an extremely sophisticated electronic alignment system. Also, some of the most advanced software currently available in the industry will be used to conduct scores of quality control tests throughout the building process just to ensure the Mulsanne conforms to the strictest quality control procedures.

Once the Mulsanne’s painted body shell is there at the sprawling ‘build hall’, it will be time for the specialists to put in place the electrical loom which is pre-heated to ensure the cabling is as flexible as it can be. This is also the time when the car’s fuel tank will be installed.

The other major sub-assemblies that the specialist teams will be working on include the dashboard and the doors before installing them. Each of the Mulsanne that rolls out of the production line will have a unique electronic ‘Bentley passport number’ associated with them that will serve to be the single point information retrieval system to the production operatives who will be able to gain access to the complete build specification of the vehicle at the tap of a button. This passport number is indeed a lot more state-of-the-art than a comprehensive specification sheet carrying all the details of the specifications available

across the board on all Mulsanne’s as well as those that can be availed of as optional extras. And as far as the choice of color is concerned, there are over a 100 attractive shades to choose from.
