Three killed after car crash in Covington

Three Newton County residents were killed on Wednesday after a head-on car collision just west of Covington city.

A 25-year-old driver identified as Jesus Salvador Ayala-Serrano, and passengers identified as Jesus Felipe-Moreno, 20, and Marquez Borjas Santos, 60, all of Covington, were pronounced dead.

The crash took place on Access Road at Dinah Pace Road.

It took place when a dump truck driven by a 33-year-old identified as Tavoris J. Berry, crossed the center yellow line and hit head-on the box truck the three occupants were traveling in.

Georgia State Patrol investigated the crash.
