Miramar shooting and car crash

Miramar police are investigating a shooting that ended in a vehicle crash and left three men dead on Monday night.

Police said the driver of a white Ford Mustang was moving towards south on State Road 7 near Southwest 37th Street when someone in another vehicle pulled up alongside him, opened fire, and sped away.

The gunfire right after 9:30 p.m. caused the driver to veer off the road and strike in front of the seafood restaurant Captain Max.

The Mustang seemed to have knocked down a light pole and shattered the glass at a tinting business before coming to rest several blocks down the road.

Police said one passenger jumped out of the vehicle as the Mustang was being shot at and a second passenger came out of the car after the crash.

The driver and a passenger were declared dead at the scene.

Surveillance video from a nearby business reveals a man discovering the passenger’s body on the ground before police attended the scene. The Good Samaritan lifted up the victim’s shirt and appeared to perform CPR on the victim before a police officer ran over to provide assistance.

“It was just a limp body and I saw two police officers, like, trying to pick up his head,” said a woman who was in the area.

Regardless of the Good Samaritan and first responders’ efforts, the victim died..

“I’ve lived in the area for at least 20 years and I’ve never come that close to somebody being killed,” the woman said.

The other passenger was admitted to Memorial Regional Hospital, where he died.

Police closed the southbound lanes of State Road 7 for hours during the investigation.

They collected evidence and investigated for clues they hope will lead them to the killer.

Anyone with details related to the incident is asked to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477. A reward of up to $3,000 is being offered for details that lead to an arrest.

A possible motive behind the incident and identities of the victims have not yet been revealed.
