Toyota rejects the report that Ford Focus was best selling of 2012

by SpeedLux

On Tuesday, Ford said to have sold 1.02 million model of Ford Focus in 2012, citing information from automotive consulting firm, Polk. It didn’t included the sales of Corolla sales, although various sources have noted the U.S. carmaker as noting Toyota sold 872,774 Corollas in 2012.

Toyota’s spokesman Ryo Sakai from Tokya claimed that the Japanese company sold 1.16 million Corollas last year and that “Toyota still views Corolla as the world’s most known car”.

“The stats includes Corolla Sedan, which is over 90 percent of the whole volume, and Corolla Axio, the Corolla Altis, Corolla Fielder, Corolla Wagon and Corolla Rumion,” he said.

It does not counts Corolla index like the Auris Hybrid, Auris, Matrix, Scion xB, Verso, E’z, and Rukus, which do not include the ‘Corolla’ name.

Polk has yet to comment on this issue.
