Two dead after head-on vehicle crash in west Turlock

Two drivers were killed following a head-on vehicle crash on early Monday morning west of Turlock.

The officials were notified of the crash at West Main Street and South Carpenter Road at 5:43 a.m.

The Emergency personnel who attended the crash site has pronounced both drivers dead.

Both vehicles sustained major damage.

The crash took place when one driver was westbound in a Subaru SUV on West Main Street, west of Carpenter Road. The second driver, a 45-year-old Patterson man in a Honda sedan, was moving east on West Main Street and while entering the eastbound lane to pass traffic, the Subaru driver hit the Honda head-on after which the Subaru overturned and became engulfed in flames.

Both drivers were wearing seatbelts.

Officials closed West Main Street between Carpenter Road and Jennings Road due to the crash.

California Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
