A Georgia police officer with his wife was killed in a car crash on Friday night in Texas.

The Fannin County Sheriff’s Office said Corporal Richard Gazaway and his wife, Heather informed about the incident.

Gazaway had been working with the department for nearly a decade.

They say Gazaway worked his way up in the department, starting as a detention officer in 2013.

Governor Brian Kemp lamented the incident and sent his condolences. He wrote on Twitter: “Marty, the girls, & I are truly saddened by the tragic deaths of Heather & Corporal Richard Gazaway. As we mourn their loss along with the Fannin County community, we ask that all Georgians join us in praying for their 12- & 3-year-old girls who are facing an unimaginable loss.”

No other details were provided with regards to the crash.
