Two killed after car crash on Highway 140 in Gustine

Two people were killed after a crash with a big rig on Tuesday afternoon at Interstate 5 and Highway 140 in Gustine, California.

The crash took place when a Las Vegas couple was driving a 2011 Hyundai Sonata northbound on Interstate 5 and had stopped at the stop sign to Highway 140 off ramp before getting hit by a 2020 Peterbelt, driven by a 40-year-old identified as Brett Cico.

Both occupants of the Hyundai were pronounced dead at the scene.

Their identities haven’t been released.

The victims included a 68-year-old male driver from Las Vegas and his passenger was a 66-year-old woman, also from Las Vegas.

The crash was reported at 2:11 p.m.

Everybody involved was wearing their seat belts.

California Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
