Two killed after car crash in Lexington Park, Maryland

Two died after the car they were riding in was hit head-on by another car on Tuesday evening in a four-vehicle crash in Lexington Park, Maryland.

Individuals identified as Sherish Lynn Guthrie, 53, and Hilda Gale Kanney, 73, were in the center turn lane on Pegg Road when their Nissan Rogue was struck by an Audi S4.

About 6:50 p.m., officials responded to the incident at Pegg Road near Spring Valley Drive, according to Maryland State Police.

Guthrie and Kanney were pronounced dead at the scene. Both were from Lexington Park.

The driver of the Audi, identified as a 24-year-old male named Duane Monroe Reese, also of Lexington Park, was cited for driving under the influence and reckless driving.

Troopers also found a handgun in the vehicle and charged Reese with four weapons-related crimes.

Reese was admitted to the hospital for treatment. He is now being held in St. Mary’s County Detention Center.

The initial crash resulted in the Nissan Rogue hitting a Ford Escape, which overturned and hit another Nissan.

Maryland State Police is investigated the crash.
