Two killed after three-car crash in Charleston County

Two people were killed after a crash on Monday evening in Awendaw, Charleston County, South Carolina.

It was around 6:30 p.m. when officials responded to the crash along Highway 17 near Jenkins Hill Road.

The crash took place when Nissan was traveling north on the highway and the vehicle braked.

A vehicle behind the Nissan swerved to avoid a crash, but that a Toyota then hit the rear of the Nissan.

The Nissan was sent off the road and into a ditch and the Toyota rolled over.

The driver and the only person inside the Nissan were pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Toyota was not seriously injured.

Two other vehicles that could avoid the crash were hit by debris.

Charleston County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash.
