Two people were killed after a two-car crash at the intersection of Murfreesboro Pike and Pineway Drive in Nashville, Tennessee on Tuesday morning.

A 60-year-old identified as Emmett P. Hewlett, and his 63-year-old female passenger were occupants of a Toyota Corolla and tried to turn left on Murfreesboro Pike from the Arlington United Methodist Church parking lot around 10:15 a.m.

It struck the driver’s side of a Volkswagen Passat.

The 19-year-old driver of the Volkswagen didn’t have serious injuries.

All three were taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where the two occupants of the Toyota succumbed to their injuries.

Officials say Toyota’s failure to yield to Volkswagen resulted in the crash.
