Two killed after a two-car crash on Route 49, Illinois

Two people are dead and a third is seriously injured following a two-car crash on Friday north of Cissna Park, Illinois.

Dispatchers they were informed at around 6:26 p.m. about the crash on Illinois Route 49 at County Road 1000 North.

Officials say a 51-year-old man from Glendale Heights was driving a green 2001 Volvo XC70 west on County Road 1000 North. They add Rickey L. Lane, 40, of Danville, was driving a gray 2020 Dodge Charger north on Route 49.

Person driving the Volvo did not stop for the stop sign and was struck by the Dodge Charger.

The Dodge Charger was engulfed in flames.

The person driving the Volvo and a passenger in the front seat of the Dodge Charger named Farrah M. Johnson, 37, of Danville, were declared dead on the scene.

The driver of the Volvo is yet to be identified.

Police say Lane, driver of Doge Charger, had been airlifted to a regional hospital for treatment. His injuries were serious.

Route 49 was shut down for just under six hours due to the investigation.
