Two killed after vehicle crash on highway in North Calgary

Two people were killed following a head-on vehicle crash north of Calgary on Wednesday.

RCMP officers were notified of the incident that took place at Highway 9 just south of Range Road 262 and north of Irricana, at about 12:40 a.m.

The crash took place when a car traveling south on Highway 9 crossed the center line and struck a northbound vehicle.

The driver of the southbound vehicle, a woman in her 70s, and the driver of another vehicle, a woman in her 50s, were both pronounced dead at the scene.

RCMP is yet to know the cause of the crash.
