Two people are dead after a single-vehicle accident in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

The crash took place on Thursday night in the 5300 block of Virginia Beach Boulevard, near the Haynes Furniture store.

According to police, the crash took place when the car struck a median in the road and went airborne, then hit and entangled in a tree.

Two people were dead in the car when officers and rescue teams attended the place of accident.

Because of the way the vehicle struck the tree, it took fire crews an extensive amount of time to get the driver and passenger out of the crash.

Investigators believe the car had been speeding before the crash.

The Fatal Crash Team (FACT) is still investigating the car crash.

Virginia Beach Boulevard resumed around 4 a.m. on Friday.
