Volkswagen Golf Variant 4Motion introduced

by SpeedLux

Volkswagen has recently announced its plans to offer a 4MOTION all-wheel drive system on the new Golf Variant. The model is designed to handle the worst that one can imagine that the nature can dish out and also the all-wheel drive system promises to virtually eliminate the loss of traction.

The system would be offered on models that come fitted with a 1.6-liter TDI engine that can generate 105 HP (77 kW) and 250 Nm (184 lb-ft) of torque. It can also be ordered with the 2.0-liter TDI engine that can generate 150 HP (110 kW) and 320 Nm (236 lb-ft) of torque. Depending on which engine is selected, the Golf Variant 4MOTION returns 4.5 L/100km (52.2 mpg US / 62.7 UK) or 4.8 L/100km (49 mpg US / 58.8 mpg UK).

The Golf Variant 4MOTION is currently available to order and the base price for the model is kept at €24,400 in German markets.

Overall the company seems to have claimed a bit too much when it says that the all-wheel drive system is capable of handling any nature extreme, we will have to wait and see if the customers who order the same get the same feel or now and if they certify this claim made by the company.
