Volkswagen revealed a production version of its ID. Buzz van in Paris on Wednesday, an electric remodification of its Microbus or Kombi, due to go on sale in some of the European countries by the third quarter of 2022.

The van will be also released in the United States by 2023, the German automakers said, adding it is the first in a series of prototypes released in the last decade to make it to production stage.

Made in Hanover with modules provided largely by Volkswagen Group Components in Germany, the car runs on an 82 kWh lithium-ion battery and can experience a maximum speed of 90 miles an hour, the automaker said.

Other versions with batteries with different power outputs will appear next year, the automaker said.
