Zeekr will make electric vehicles for Waymo that will be deployed as fully autonomous ride-hailing vehicles across the United States.

Zeekr is Geely Holding’s premium electric mobility brand, described by the company as “a new electric mobility technology and solutions brand satisfying the global demand for premium electric vehicles”.

Waymo is Alphabet Inc’s self-driving unit.

The vehicles will be developed at Zeekr’s facility located in Sweden, and later integrated with Waymo’s self-driving technology, Geely said.

Waymo said it would introduce automobiles to the American roads “in the years to come.”

Waymo is the first and only fully autonomous taxi service in the United States.

Until now, it has driven thousands of people since the service was introduced a year ago in Phoenix.
