2 killed, 3 injured after car crashed into infrastructure in Des Plaines

Two people were killed and three others were injured after a driver struck into a building Sunday afternoon in Des Plaines, Illinois.

The crash was reported around 12:15 p.m. in the 400 block of Northwest Highway.

Officials said the driver of an SUV hit a building and a gas main.

A 42-year-old woman and an 80-year-old man, who were struck during the crash, were killed.

The driver of the car, a 71-year-old man, and two children occupants at the time of the crash, experienced non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash is still under investigation by Des Plaines Police Department.
