2010 Paris Motor Show: 2012 Mercedes-Benz CLS now on sale

The second generation CLS from Mercedes is now open for placing order at all dealership outlets of Mercedes-Benz across Europe. The car was launched at the recently held Paris Motor Show. The 2012 Mercedes-Benz CLS would be available for sale the showrooms from 2011 January. There would be option of five colors to select from as well as three types of leather and five variants of trim parts. For engine fit there would be two variants of the car that would be available for choosing from. One would be the CLS 350 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY developing 265 hp with the price of the model at €63,427. The other variant is the one with CLS 350 BlueEFFICIENCY developing 306 hp and also has the ECO start/stop function as standard fit. This one would come at a price of €64,617. There would be an additional variant of CLS 250 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY priced at €59,857 which would deliver 204 hp.

December 2010 onwards would see the commencement of sales of the CLS 500 BlueEFFICIENCY. This car has a V8 engine powering it that develops 408 hp. Delivery of this model is expected to commence from April of 2011. ECO start / stop function would be standard fit for the car. At an additional cost of €868.70 one could install the electromechanical Direct-Steer system with Active Parking Assists on the car. This device aids the driver of the CLS from detecting parking space as well as helps in parking the car. At an additional cost of €1,773.10 one could also have the dynamic LED high-performance headlamps installed on the vehicle. This feature is a unique one in that no other car in the world as on date can boast of this feature.

Features like Active Blind Spot Assist and Active Lane Keeping Assist are some of the additional safety features that could be incorporated in the CLS. These features come in the package named ‘Driving Assistance package Plus’ and includes some other features like DISTRONIC PLUS, BAS PLUS and PRE-SAFE brakes. All this at an additional price of €2,677.50. There is also the CLS ‘Edition1’ package which is limited only till the first year of the car. The package costs an additional €6,664 and more and includes matt exterior paintwork in manganite grey SHAPE, shimmering metallic leather upholstery designo corteccia pearl, floor mats with “Edition 1” lettering, black designo roof liner and aluminum pedals. The “Edition 1” only provides for some variations in interior trim. There is the poplar light-brown satin, ash black high-gloss or, as an optional extra, AMG Carbon, which is priced at €10,115.
