2011 Mercedes-Benz E-Class sedans, estates being recalled

by Alex

Mercedes Benz E Class bearing Chassis code W212 and Estate bearing Chassis Code S212 of the 2011 Model year are being recalled by the company. 41 sedans and wagons would be affected by this recall as per The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The reason for the recall is inadequate adhesive in the vibration damper in the engine compartment. There are high probability of a separation occurring between the vibration damper and its inner mass damper ring. The kinetic energy that would be produced in the event of such a separation could harm anyone working on the vehicle or any one nearby it.

The parts would be replaced free at the dealers premise after the same has been checked for. The recall begins on the 11th of April and owners have been asked to look for the date of manufacture of their car which can be found in the sticker on the driver side door jamb.

There is also the contact number of Mercedes – 800-367-6372 or the NHTSA vehicle safety hotline at 888-327-4236 for obtaining any sort of confirmation on the build of one’s vehicle and whether it falls under the preview of this recall. Mercedes had a few days ago mentioned about a recall of some 136,751 units of its M Class and M-Class AMG SUV to tend to some control system defect. The cruise control system it appears would not be switched off in case the brake is applied which does lead to higher probability of a crash.
