2012 Audi A4/A4 Avant Facelift Revealed: Official Photos, Specs and Price

by Zack Colt

The facelifted version of the A4 which is one of its most popular models that will hit the showrooms in January 2012 in Europe has been revealed today, of course, by Audi. It is expected that the United States market will receive it in June or July as a 2013 model.

Some of the upgrades that have been installed on the new Audi are more lines on the hood, a restyled bumper with new trapezoid-shaped fog lamps, a new six-corner single-frame grille which is painted gray on the models powered by four-cylinder engines and black on six-cylinder models, a new rear bumper with twin chrome tailpipes, a new set of headlamps, just like the revamped A5, and new taillamps featuring the LED technology.

As for the performance department, we find the brand new 1.8-liter four-cylinder TFSI delivering 125 kW (170 hp) and 320 Nm (236.02 lb-ft) of torque. As well as important would be the average consumption in the A4 Sedan which is limited to 5.6 liters per 100 km (42.0 US mpg), or 134 grams CO2 per km (215.65 g/mile). The entry-level gasoline engine is the 1.8 TFSI with 88 kW (120 hp). The 2.0 TFSI engine delivers 211 hp, while the top of the line 3.0 TFSI delivers 272 hp and 333 hp on the S4 (same as before). Regarding the diesel engines, the well-known 2.0 TDI engine delivers 100 kW (136 hp) and has a fuel consumption of only 4.2 liters of fuel per 100 km (56.0 US mpg) on average – a CO2 equivalent of just 112 grams per km (180.25 g/mile). The same engine is available with 163 hp and has a fuel consumption of 4.4 liters of diesel per 100 km (53.46 US mpg).

And besides all that, three other four-cylinder diesel engines are available – with 88 kW (120 hp), 105 kW (143 hp) and 130 kW (177 hp). The 3.0 TDI engine is also available delivering 150 kW (204 hp) (not for the allroad quattro) and 180 kW (245 hp).
For all this you would expect some serious pricing, but yet again, Audi tends to surprise us with the prices they establish. For the 2012 Audi A4 the cost starts at 35,425 euros.
