Three people killed in a crash after a truck they were driving hit a pole and caught fire Saturday night in Kent County, Michigan.

Troopers with the Michigan State Police Grand Rapids Post were notified of a single-vehicle crash around 11:45 p.m., Saturday. The crash took place in M-6 near the Byron Center Avenue exit in Byron Township.

An initial investigation figured out that a 2016 Chevy Silverado pickup left the roadway to the right and struck the sign pole for the Byron Center Avenue exit. The vehicle then caught fire.

When troopers attended the site of the accident, firefighters were trying to extinguish the flames that had engulfed the vehicle.

Officials found three individuals in the truck after extinguishing the flames.

Speed could be a factor in the crash. Identities of the victims are yet to be revealed.
