Everyone faces small or big issues with their car at some point in time. However, in many cases, the repair is often delayed. Be it for lack of time, lack of budget, or simply procrastination, people often tend to ignore such mechanical problems.

While some of them are minor and can wait, others need you to rush to the nearest auto repair shop in Australia. These are the problems that can lead to sudden accidents or quickly turn into major problems.

Generally, it is always advisable to get your vehicle checked by a reliable mechanic and get it repaired. Or your mechanic can suggest you to whether immediate repair is needed or not. However, if you do not have a trusted mechanic and looking for one, here is a list of immediate repairs your car would need.

  • Strange engine sounds

If you hear a knocking or clunking sound from the engine and its rhythm increases as you accelerate, it is a call to visit your mechanic right away. While it can mean several things, it also possibly indicate an unproportionate mix of air and fuel in cylinders. Such problems can quickly create a domino of problems leading to a failing system. As the engine is one of the most crucial and expensive components, you should get these issues fixed immediately.

  • Oil changes

Every car needs oil change at regular intervals. While a rule of thumb says that the oil should be changed every 3000 miles, it may differ based on your car’s brand and model. More sophisticated cars have indicators that signal oil change according to your driving habits. You should not delay oil change as clean oil protects your engine. Also, changing oil allows your mechanic to take a look at the engine’s health and resolve minor problems before they escalate.

  • Coolant leakages

Coolant is supposed to keep your engine cool. If it leaks out, it can lead to engine overheating. An overheated engine can leave you broken out of nowhere on-road and incur expensive repairs. You can check for leaking coolant on the parking area floor or some cars also have dashboard indicators for it.

  • Damaged tires

A blowing tire on the road can be trouble for you and those who are around you. For that reason, it is imperative to change wearing tires. Some tires have wear bars that recede into the tread of the tire. If the bars flush tread, it is time to replace your tires. Alternatively, you can look for air bubbles on your tire and change them immediately if you find those.

  • Imperfect brakes

Imperfect brakes are the most common cause of accidents. If you feel anything unusual about the brakes such as brake paddle too hard or too soft to press, get it checked immediately. It might mean that some brake component like a cylinder is leaking. You should also be watchful of the grinding sound that indicates wearing brake pads.

  • Issues with steering

You may not hear it that commonly, but a power steering can crack or break. It can lead to severe accidents as you lose control over the vehicle. In some cases, the steering fluid also leaks which can also leave steering dysfunctional. Ask your mechanic to check the steering and steering fluid in every oil change.
